Q&A
And…go! Jess answers our fun rapid-fire questions.
1. If you had to wear one thing to work every day, what would it be?
Denim on denim, that to me is a great blank canvas—I can wear a bold lip, a hat, a crop top on the inside and wear the denim top as a jacket. The options are out there—they’re infinite.
2. What is your favorite way to let loose after a hectic work week?
I’m a grandma, so I like to go home and watch movies or just be online and watch YouTube tutorials.
3. Do you have any words of wisdom for your younger self?
It’s okay to be who you are. It’s okay to look the way you look. You don’t owe anyone an explanation and you don’t owe anyone an apology for the way you look.
4. How did you get into fashion journalism?
It started with my blog. I always knew when I was younger that I wanted to be in fashion but because I was hiding my body with big clothes I didn’t think that would be something I could do. And then when I hit college an I knew that I wanted to do journalism and I thought it was the best time for me to include fashion into my life and my career. And then my boss found me on Instagram and she called me in and I was like, “I’m on my way!”
5. If you could create your own shade of lipstick what color would it be and what would its name be?
I am a big fan of red, so it would have to be the brightest red you’ve ever seen in your life—and I would probably call it…I don’t know! I feel like it would have to be something fun because I’m not someone who is serious or sexy.
